The `90s are back when I Love the 90`s featuring hip hop icons and trendsetters Salt-N-Pepa with Spinderella, Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Coolio and Rob Base hit the stage at DTE Energy Music Theatre on Friday, August 19 at 7 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at Livenation.com, Palacenet.com, The Palace Ticket Store and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may be also charged by phone to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling 800.745.3000.

As one of the first successful all-female rap groups, Salt-N-Pepa had a long string of hits, including “Push It,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Shoop,” “Whatta Man” and “None of Your Business.” The trio won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1995 for “None of Your Business,” making them the first female rap Grammy winners. In addition, they won several MTV Music Video Awards.

Vanilla Ice released To the Extreme in 1990 and the album spent 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and sold 15 million copies worldwide. The single “Ice Ice Baby” was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts and the album also included the hit single, “Play That Funky Music.” In 1991, he won American Music Awards for Favorite Pop/Rock New Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop New Artist.

Tone Loc released his debut album Lōc-ed After Dark in 1989 and it made it to #1 on the Billboard 200 with the help of smash hits, “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.” The album also included the Top 20 Hot Rap track, “I Got It Goin’ On.” The Los Angeles native won an American Music Award for Favorite Dance New Artist in 1990.

Coolio is a Grammy award-winning rapper who achieved success with Platinum-selling albums, It Takes a Thief (1994), Gangsta’s Paradise (1995) and My Soul (1997). The title track “Gangsta’s Paradise,” earned him a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. Other hit singles include “Fantastic Voyage,” “C U When U Get There” and “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New).”

Rob Base was part of a hip hop duo with DJ E-Z Rock who were best known for their hit “It Takes Two,” a platinum selling title track which peaked at #3 on the Dance Club Songs chart. The album was certified Platinum and peaked at #31 on the Billboard 200. The sophomore release, The Incredible Base, reached #50 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold.
